Do they bother to go listen to themselves later? Or do they just not care how stupid they sound?

Regarding the Senate's handy defeat of the Democrats' effort to call for a Iraq withdrawal timetable, Senate Majority leader Bill Frist said this:

"They want an exit strategy, a cut-and-run exit strategy. What we are for is a successful strategy."

Right, because we've been so successful at everything else in this war, like supressing insurgents and getting the lights turned on and the toilets unplugged. I don't really trust your party to do anything successful beyond successfully lying and cheating.

i agree. it's just too bad there isn't another political party in this country. the reps are like the pri was in mexico: they can fuck up anything and everything, and still hold onto power. i don't understand it.

Yep, they seem to be able to do no wrong, and if you disagree with any of their b.s. you get labeled a 'flaming liberal,' so be it, I disagree, I guess I'm a 'flaming liberal' whatever. I consider myself more of a 'libertarian' type dude, which is double trouble cuz it tends to piss off everybody a little bit. But hey, do whatever you want, just don't hurt anyone else.
Whatever it is. I agree with stash about the other party. More people should vote for their fave independent parties, whatever they may be, just to put numbers on the books, and maybe even make a difference someday. The two parties are definitely more the same than they are different.

these days, the dems never seem to miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

granted, back in y2k, i had a sign on my ofc door that said "don't blame me, i voted for nader." after florida, i crossed out the "don't." wasn't the yr to make a statement, altho it seems clear that more than 2 alternatives are needed.

kerry blew it by focusing on the wrong shit (his vs. dub's war rekkid instead of iraq / economy). just like clinton blew it by picking the wrong isu (gays in the military instead of health care) to go to the wall with upon taking ofc.

i voted for kerry last time, but i woulda voted for mccain, too, if he hadn't pissed off the religious right enough to forfeit his chances at getting the reps' nomination, prolly forever.

'04 election is proof that the electoral process, at national lvl at least, is totally about marketing and promotion. largest ad budget wins. feh.

even after disclosures of ethics violations (to put it very mildly) and what would once have been called treason motivated by a political vendetta, the reps seem untouchable and untouched. altho i'd be delighted to be wrong.

and yeah, reps / dems all same-same.

being the cynical young man i am, i'll just say this:

dems, repubs - they can call each other what they like, but they're nothimg more than differently shaped turds dropping out of the same unwashed, neglected asshole.
